“90% of the questions people are asking these days about the Bible have to do with the Old Testament.” Would you agree with this statement? After a decade in campus ministry, I’d say this: most students aren’t won over by a clever answer—but confusion about the Old Testament can be an unnecessary barrier to encountering the God of the Bible. God has chosen to reveal Himself through the entirety of the Bible—and it tells a unified story. We don’t have to defend the Old Testament, but we do need to read it as the authors intended! When we do, we discover God’s love, wisdom, and instruction that leads to life. It’s a privilege to invest in our Northeast campus ministers. One of the ways I get to do this is through helping lead our annual training conference, LIGHT—a time to care for, equip, and straighten those ministering across our region! This year, a major focus was helping our team know and love the Old Testament. We invited Dr. Carmen Imes, an Old Testament scholar, to teach us what it means to be God’s image, bear His name, and become His family. We also heard from missionaries serving in Europe to help us contextualize those truths in a secular setting. For our ministers that serve alone, this is one of the few times to connect with colleagues. These gatherings provide connection, training, and care. Thanks to partners like you, we’re able to provide training and pastoral care for our ministers. As we invest in our ministers, they’re better equipped to invest in students —and the ripple effects will be felt across our campuses. Here’s what some of our ministers had to say: “I loved that what Dr. Imes taught gave both head knowledge of the OT and how we can use it present a full Gospel. The missionaries’ training was super applicable to the college campus of the Northeast and how we can share a Gospel that is worth something and be confident in it.” “The amount of communal time is always so meaningful… it’s life-giving to be able to have extended time to connect with my colleagues and be filled up from having time with them.” “Dr. Imes expanded the “sinner-saved-heaven” timeline into a more full picture of the kingdom of God! It was meaningful to me personally, and I think it will be so helpful in welcoming students into a life with Jesus.” Thank you for making this possible! ministry and life recently ![]() I had the opportunity to speak at Rowan University’s weekly service at the end of the semester!
